Het Boek van Mormon leert dat Christus de Zoon van God word genoemd
omdat hij als vleesgeworden God onder ons woont als sterfelijk mens (Mosiah
15:1-4). Heiligen der Laatste Dagen als B. H. Roberts, David O. McKay,
en Lowell L. Bennion, maar ook anderen, spraken van Jezus Christus als
de "openbaring, "uitdrukking", of "manifestatie"
van God in de wereld. Christus toont ons door zijn leven wat voor een
persoon God is. En bovenal openbaart de komst van Christus in de wereld
God's liefde (LV 138:1-3)
De Leer en Verbonden Afdeling 93 leert dat Christus de Zoon van God word
genoemd omdat hij van genade tot genade voortging totdat hij God's volheid
ontving. Dezelfde openbaring leert dat ook wij van genade tot genade kunnen
voortgaan totdat ook wij de volheid van God's glorie ontvangen (LV
93:1-20). Als Zoon van God ontwerpt Christus het patroon voor de
geestelijke groei van 'n ieder die door hem, God's gewonnen zonen en dochteren
zijn (LV 76:23-24). Door te openbaren wat voor
soort persoon God is, openbaart Christus eveneens wat voor soort persoon
'n ieder van ons kan worden.
Door te verklaren dat Christus de Zoon van God is, verklaren we op z'n
minst dat Christus het evenbeeld van God is, ons ten voorbeeld. In meer
mystieke bewoordingen: Christus nodigt ons uit in zijn Zoon-schap te delen
d.m.v. eenheid met hem, opdat we in dezelfde intieme verhouding tot God
mogen staan als hij, en met hem erfgenaam mogen zijn van elke zegen die
God ons biedt. Evenals Christus worden allen die worden gedoopt zonen
en dochters van God genoemd (Mozes 6:64-68; Mattheus
3:16-17).

but also He is a complete revelation of God, of all that is divine.
So that we know God through the revelation of Himself in the person
